Garlic and goldenseal have anti-microbial properties and can help fight pneumonia. Eat 8 to 10 cloves of garlic daily,
or take 3 garlic capsules 3 times a day. Purchase goldenseal tincture in a health food store and follow the package directions. You also can drink coltsfoot tea.

Herbal Therapy

To prepare an expectorant, combine 2 ounces powdered licorice, 1 ounce powdered wild black cherry bark, 1 ounce dried coltsfoot leaves, 3/4 teaspoon dried lobelia leaves, and 1 ounce dried horehound. Simmer 1 tablespoon of the blend in 1 cup water for 5 minutes; steep for 10 minutes; strain. Drink every 2 hours. Use only under the supervision of a qualified medical herbalist and do not exceed the recommended amount.
